After seeing what perfections he made with all the other Androids, he simply created a new body for himself (which looks identical to his previous) and transfered his brain into the newest creation so that he could continue to invent. |
| Dr. Gero or Android 20 if first seen in Dragon Ball Z just after the Trunks Saga. Trunks had forewarned Goku and the other Z fighters that two androids would appear in an island city to wreak havoc on the world from that day on. Of course, two androids did show up that day and it was unfortunate that Yamcha was the first one to run into them. Using his absorption technique, Dr. Gero sucked almost every last bit of energy out of Yamcha’s body then proceeded to punch a whole through the warrior.The other Z fighters catch up with the rest where Dr. Gero reveals to the others who he really is before the fight starts. He reveals that many years ago, after seeing Goku fight as a child, he created a small insect that followed Goku through all of his battles memorizing his powers and attacks along with the other Z fighters such as Yamcha, Tien, Vegeta, Gohan, and Krillin. It studied their techniques as well compiling the information to be made for more androids that would eventually defeat them.What Dr. Gero didn’t know was how much the Z fighters had progressed since he stopped recording the information. Not to mention the Z fighters had been tipped off by Trunks 3 years earlier and had stepped up their training in anticipation for that, as well.Android 20 is soon defeated and flees back to his lair to release his other Androids but is cut down and killed by Android 17 as soon as he is released. |

Dr. Gero: the Man Behind the Plot to Kill the Z FightersDr. Gero used to be a human being but he has added several mechanical components to himself and eventually became an android. His specialization is making these robots and he used to work for the Red Ribbon Army. The Red Ribbon Army is a highly organized military force. The main goal of this army is to dominate the entire world. In line with this goal, the organization uses all possible advancement in technology in the creation of their weapons, including artificial humans called androids. Part of their main goal is to collect the seven Dragon Balls. The reason for this is to make a wish once the Dragon Balls are complete as any wish will come true as long as the person who makes the wish possesses the seven Dragon Balls. Goku wiped out almost all members of the Red Ribbon Army and only a few—including Dr. Gero—survived. This was enough for Dr. Gero to swear that he will not quit trying to eliminate Son Goku. He loathed Goku and created several androids for the sole purpose of killing him. One weird thing that Dr. Gero did was to implant his brain in one of the many cyborgs that he created. His original intention was to call the robot Android 20. However, he decided to put his brain on it. Another thing he did that is worthy of noting here is that he created several devices that allowed him to ollow Son Goku and the rest for he Z Fighters. These devices were like insects and it allowed Dr. Gero to track them wherever they are. Other than that, these insect-like devices have the ability to record on video what their cameras saw. And the ultimate of all the features of these devices is that they were capable of analyzing movements of the people they are watching. This included martial arts movements and special moves individualized by each character. This made it possible for Dr. Gero to create cyborgs or artificial humans as counterpart of the Z Fighters. He never succeeded in his goals though. In the end, Dr. Gero also died. And when he was dying, his last words were, “Goku must die”. |
