Name: Android 16

Special Attacks/Abilities: Rocket Fist, Unlimited Energy, Self-detonation

History: The one soul mission of Android 16 is to eliminate Goky at any cost. Standing at 8 feet in height and his red Mohawk, Android 16 could easily be one of the most intimidating Androids that Dr. Gero has ever created. But it’s quite the contrary, during the series, he’s always depicted as being a lovingly selfless person whether it be appreciating nature around him or helping out another.

Out of all the human resembling Androids, 16 is the strongest by far being almost the strength of Cell in his second form. He almost succeeds at defeating Cell but is damaged and retreats with Android 18 to hide while Cell goes on the search. They are only discovered when Vegeta lets Cell continue his search, where Android 18 becomes absorbed.Android 16 is then taken to Bulma’s house where she takes a look at his damaged body to see what she can do to fix it. Unlike the other Androids created by Dr. Gero, Android 16 is 100% machine made from scratch where the other two where built from human structures.
Bulma fixes him to his full form but does not relay to him that she removed his self-detonation device, an attack that is powerful enough to take out Cell in his strongest form. Without this information, Android 16 fights Cell at the Cell Games thinking to take himself out and Cell at the same time. But then Android 16 discovers that his bomb had been removed before where Cell makes short work of him from there ripping off his head.His head still active, DBZ Android 16 asks Mr. Satan to toss his head over to Gohan. His head next to Gohan, Android 16 gives Gohan some last words trying to encourage him on. Immediately after he finishes, Cell destroys his head pushing Gohan into a rage sending him over the top into an “Ascended Saiyan” or Super Saiyan 2.Android 16 is never brought back to life since he was never alive in the first place and his story ends here in Dragon Ball Z.

The Gentle and
Mysterious Android 16

Android 16, also called Artificial Human 16, Number 16, or simply 16, was a major frustration for Dr. Gero. He was a very gentle android compared to the murderous others. In the Dragon Ball Z manga and anime series, he was always seen being close to nature. He was always isolated and was always with animals such as chipmunks and squirrels.

Android 16 is a massive bulk of machine as shown in his height and muscles. He sported a red hair cut short to the sides—sort of being a Mohawk—and he wore a short-sleeved, green armor. His mission was to destroy Goku but it turned out that he was a good android.

In the series, Android 16 eventually wanted to destroy Cell, an alien who was holding games of fighting. Cell is one of the most challenging enemies of the Dragon Ball Z team. He was also a creation of Dr. Gero and he was cloned from the cells of great fighters like Piccolo and Freeza. As such, his creator called him as the ultimate fighter or the perfect fighter. His main goal in the series was to achieve his perfect or true form. Eventually, his goal was diverted into beating Goku’s team.

In one battle, Android 16 was severely wounded and Goku’s team took him in for repair. They removed the self-destruct bomb implanted in his body but they never told him. Android 16 was almost able to defeat Cell in battle but when he was trying to self-destruct, he realized his bomb was gone. This gave Cell the opportunity to kill him. When he was destroyed, his head was not, giving him an opportunity to express words of hope and exhortation to Son Gohan. Gohan was then motivated and this helped him elevate his level to Super Saiyan 2, allowing him to beat Cell once and for all.

    How exactly do you know, KNOW, that android 16 wasn’t brought back by the dragonballs? From all I’ve seen, heard, and read, it’s never stated one way or the other.
